I really do give an “F” about my career 😂. For as long as I can remember, I always had dreams, and I always set goals. My ambitious and imaginative personality led me to accomplish some great things. However, being a florist was not on my Bingo card.
Let me lay it out for you:
1. While in high school, I set a goal to attend college and become a Forensic Scientist.
2. I not only received my bachelor’s degree in forensic science, but I also received a master’s degree in biology. The first person in my family to achieve this graduate level education.
3. My next goal is to work in law enforcement using my degree to provide factual evidence that would bring closure, seek justice, or keep people safe. Also, the first person in my family to work in law enforcement.
4. I then set a goal to teach Forensic Science around the world, get paid to travel, and teach forensic techniques. An added perk of the job.
No where on this journey did I list becoming a florist and blossoming business owner. What I realize is that purpose doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes, God reveals to us who we are through the most unexpected ways and times. My love for event design and floral art came from a place of searching for fulfillment and wanting to do something different than I had planned my entire life. I wanted a way to serve, bless, and connect deeper with people that would leave a positive impact on their lives. Even in this new path, I’m still setting an example for my family. I’m following in the footsteps of a long lineage of entrepreneurs.
I hope that my journey inspires others that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what you plan, follow the journey that truly speaks to you heart ❤️
